Jim Fabris, Master Writing Teacher, is offering creative writing workshops for youth who want to explore and develop their writing ability over the summer break. Workshop fee: $200 per session. Session 1: Memoir Writing Jim will lead the group through a series of games and activities designed to help young writers mine their memories and other true stories for great writing ideas. Participants will:  transform unforgettable experiences into unforgettable pieces of writing  create compelling descriptions by appealing to all five of the reader’s senses  identify important life turning points and use writing to reflect on their meaning Session 2: Fiction Writing The group will engage in activities to spark the young writer’s imaginations, so they can create original works of fiction. Participants will learn how to:  develop complex three dimensional characters  create compelling plots that are rooted in the character’s conflicts  write dramatic and dynamic dialogue that both develops the characters and pushes the plot forward Both sessions will provide group activities, individual writing time, and sharing time.
