Here's the breakdown for the camp and how it works. The exact dates can be found on the website. The cost of the camp is $500 for the basic camp and $625 for the extended/advanced camps. The Austin camp takes place at the ACC Highland Business Center, and lasts Monday-Friday, 9-5 (Basic) and 8-6 (Extended). Registration can be done on the website. Our staff is comprised of both industry professionals, such as myself, who take time out of their schedules to help with the camp, and students who are in game development programs in ACC and in other schools. Many of our lab leaders were once students attending the camp themselves and upon graduating wished to stay involved in the camp. The camp is for kids 10-18, and it introduces them to game development as a career. We seperate the kids into groups according to age, and during the course of the week each group works on a game idea. At the end of the week they present their work to a panel of industry professionals who critique the game and give the kids feedback. During a normal day, the kids will have a small amount of free time to socialize and play games, but the majority of the day is spent working in groups to flesh out their game ideas. They have daily deliverables they must complete. Each day of the week is a different theme: Art/Programming/Production/Design/Audio, etc. Each day a professional in that day's focused area comes in and delivers a general lecture over that area of game development. After that, the kids interested in that area of game development have the opportunity to attend tutorials taught by that professional, this is huge since the kids get one on one time with someone who works in the industry...
