CURRICULUM

Skateboard kickflipping, rap rhyming, graphic design, photography, filmmaking and YouTube film editing are just a few of the things individuals can do at GardenSK8. Afterschool and Summer Sessions allow youths to explore distinct interests, bridge diversity and gain confidence in their unique interests and talents.

Skateboarding (All Sessions)

Skateboarding being the core activity at GardenSK8, we developed a dynamic curriculum that allows for campers to participate in as many or few elective activities as they wish. GardenSK8’s counselors have developed specific workshops and games that help skaters of all ages and levels progress in the sport and enjoy themselves while doing so.

Film Making(All Sessions)

YouTube Film Editing teaches teens to film, edit, cut and produce a smooth final product. Throughout the week campers will work on filming and splicing a camp video while also learning special effects behind the scenes. The class was inspired by the popularity of the website YouTube. GardenSK8’s YouTube Film Editing is an attempt to capture the site’s appeal while teaching both the practical and technical skills of skateboard filmmaking. At the end of the week campers will present a world video premiere which will be put up on GardenSK8’s website.

Photography (All Sessions)

Photography teaches the fundamentals and styles of photography while challenging youth to see the artistic beauty in everyday life. Individuals will work on a week long-portfolios with digital cameras. The class is designed to be a form of digital and artistic expression.

Graphic Art(All Sessions)
