Special Education Summer Social Skills Camp / Program - HI-STEP (formerly Stepping Stone) Summer Social Skills Program: Helping Improve Social skills Through Evidence-based Practices (ages 6-15) is a 6-week Summer Program (not a sleep-over program) that takes place Monday through Friday (June 30 - August 8, 2008; no program on July 4th); HI STEP teaches social-emotional, social skills, and problem-solving skills; individualized attention; structured sports and recreational activities; arts and crafts; positive peer interactions; highly structured; ongoing supervision; small-group format; and reinforcement system. Parents receive feedback and strategies for home carryover; The program may be appropriate for children with social-emotional difficulties, attention problems, high-functioning Pervasive Developmental Disorders (e.g., Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, PDD-NOS), and learning disabilities. Many children who receive special education services have attended this program as part of their I.E.P.’s extended school year (ESY) program; a diagnosis or classification is not necessary for enrollment in the program.

1) Fair Lawn, NJ in Bergen County (easy access from G.S. Parkway & Routes 287, 80, and 280)
2) Pennington, NJ in Mercer County (near Princeton & Flemington, NJ & Bucks County, PA)
