O.C. Water Camp is a water education and outreach program designed for Orange County students. The goal of O.C. Water Camp is to teach students about water/wastewater, to encourage students to be environmental stewards, and to generate interest in water-related careers. The program is open to Orange County students entering grades 8 and 9 in the fall of 2008 and there is no cost to attend. Each day at camp, students will participate in fun, hands-on water education activities. Examples of actual water camp activities include: • Ocean water sampling and water quality testing • Solving an environmental crime • Taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Groundwater Replenishment System • Playing fun water and trivia games • Visiting a water-wise garden to learn about native plants and water-wise gardening During the summer of 2008, two week-long sessions will be held, June 23-27 and July 14-18. Twenty students will be selected to attend each camp session. Students will be selected to attend on the basis of their short answer question responses.
