Believe it or not, summer vacation is just around the corner.  If you’re still making plans for how to spend the season, be sure to keep The School of Rock in mind.  In addition to our regular summer season shows, we’ll also be offering two sessions of our exciting Rock n’ Roll Boot Camp program.  The Boot Camp is an intensive, two-week day camp experience that will extend far beyond the usual curriculum of our seasonal shows.  Of course, students will still focus on the mechanics of rehearsing and performing as a group, and the program will culminate in a fully-staged Friday night rock concert.  But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.  Rock n’ Roll Boot Camp will also feature a strong emphasis on original creative output from every student.  Classes on musical composition and songwriting will give students the tools to put their ideas on paper.  Guided jam sessions will be used to flesh out ideas and facilitate constructive collaboration.  Sessions in the recording studio will give musicians a chance to shape and edit their sound in totally new ways.  Lessons in show promotion and production will be entirely hands-on: students will design everything, from the posters and flyers, to the stage banner and lighting scheme on show night, to the t-shirts they’ll wear on stage and take home afterwards.  Perhaps the most distinctive feature of Boot Camp is that virtually every teacher here at the school will be involved in the program at some level, so students will be able to draw on the combined experience of our entire amazing staff.

There will be two separate sessions of Rock n’ Roll Boot Camp this summer, each running on weekdays from 9AM to 3PM.
