Students will travel through time to learn the story of mathematics. They will start by visiting the ancient cultures of Babylonia, Egypt, Greece, China, Guatemala, India and Persia to discover the origins of counting and finish with the development of very basic algebra. Students will explore different number systems, and learn about prime numbers, multiplication and division. They will complete a project each day, including making an abacus and clay artifacts. For the last day, students will create a presentation on their favorite topic. Kids who love history and art, as well as math, will enjoy this camp. Fees: $250 + $50 materials.
