Adult reading volunteers who have been recruited from local churches help the children improve fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension. After lunches are provided, children and community volunteers from all walks of life come together for “Afternoon Enrichment”. Children are exposed to assorted activities that may not be offered on a regular basis in public school environments, such as outdoor recreation, creative art projects, field trips, and local playground activities.
